How to promote using YouTube

In this article, we teach affiliates how they can promote advertisers on the largest video sharing platform, YouTube.

Adding YouTube to your traffic sources

In order to promote through your YouTube account, you will need to connect your YouTube account to your Commission Factory account. This can be done in the Traffic Sources section of your Settings. To access this page, log in to the Commission Factory platform. Go to your Settings section and then select the Traffic Sources header.

To add your YouTube account as a traffic source, simply scroll down to the Connect your Social Networks section. There will be fields for different social media pages, simply click on the three dots on the right-hand side of the YouTube row.

This will then prompt you to log in to the social media channel. Simply log in to your YouTube account here and accept the permissions requests.

How to promote via YouTube

After you have successfully linked your YouTube account as a Traffic Source to your Commission Factory account, you’re now able to start promoting via your YouTube channel.

In order to earn commissions on sales, your audience will need to click through one of your Commission Factory affiliate tracking links. Tracking links can be found in the Creatives section of your Affiliate account and under the Text Links section.

What is a Deep Link

There are a few different ways affiliates can monetise their YouTube channel, below are the methods affiliates can promote our advertisers.

  • Video Descriptions - Including affiliates links in a video description is the most common way to promote advertisers on YouTube. When posting a video, simply include timestamps in the video description for the brand or product you are showcasing and paste your affiliate link for viewers to click through. For example, this can look like the below:
@10:58 - Brand name/product name. Click here to buy now: paste your unique affiliate link.
  • YouTube cards - YouTube cards are in-video annotations that viewers can interact with. For more information on how to set up a YouTube card, please watch YouTube's video guide here. When adding a link to your YouTube card, simply paste the unique affiliate link you wish to include in your video.
  • YouTube channel bio - Another way to promote advertisers is via your YouTube channel's 'About' section. Under your channel description, you have the ability to include links. The link section can be used to showcase other social media accounts you have or even to include affiliate links.

Please note: It is important to stay in the know of what the platform's affiliate disclosure rules are. To find out more information, please visit the platform's website and read through their advertising guidelines and/or disclosure rules.
