# What is probation?

## This article helps affiliates understand what it means to be on a probationary period on the Commission Factory platform.

Probation refers to the period of time an affiliate is monitored by our Compliance Team as a result of a program or network violation that has been committed by the affiliate.

The length of time an affiliate can be on probation can vary depending on the severity of the violation. This can be anywhere from 3, 6, 9 or 12 months long, whereby if the affiliate is caught committing another violation within the probation period, the affiliate will be suspended immediately and any remaining commissions in their account will thus be forfeited.

**Please note:** If your account has been placed on probation, our Compliance Team will be in contact with you directly regarding the probation. Please note to check your junk/spam folder just in case our team's email has arrived in another inbox.

For more information on our Suspension Catalogue, please see another one of our Help Centre articles [here](https://help.commissionfactory.com/suspension-catalogue?hsLang=en).
