      Verifying your traffic source

      This article shows affiliates how to verify their website traffic source. We provide step-by-step instructions for 5 common hosting services.

      Verifying your website can be done in your account by navigating to Account Settings > Traffic Sources. On the right-hand side of the website you would like the verify, click the three-dot icon and select Verify Now.
      You can verify your traffic source either by uploading the supplied HTML file to your site or adding the HTML meta tag to your site. Commission Factory can then automatically verify you are the owner of this website and your traffic source will now be verified.
      When applying to advertiser programs, verified traffic sources are considered more favorable to advertisers than affiliates that do not have any verified traffic sources. 

      Please note: Verification is not used for social media accounts and is only used for websites. 

      Below are 5 common hosting services with our step-by-step instructions for how to add the HTML meta tag to the relevant page.

      Squarespace

      1. In another tab, log into your Squarespace site
      2. Navigate through the following menus – Settings > Advanced > Code Injection
      3. In the Header box paste the meta tag from the Commission Factory modal
      4. Click Save
      5. Back in your Commission Factory dashboard select Verify

      WordPress

      1. In another tab, log into your WordPress site
      2. From the Admin Dashboard navigate to the following menus – Appearance > Theme Editor
      3. Locate the header.php file on the right-hand menu
      4. Inside the <head> tag paste the meta tag from the Commission Factory modal
      5. Click Save
      6. Back in your Commission Factory dashboard select Verify

      Please note: If you are unable to navigate through the Theme Editor numerous Plugins also allow Meta InTag management (Yoast SEO Plugin) for example has many tutorials on this point.

      Wix

      1. In another tab, log onto your Wix site
      2. Navigate to your page’s SEO settings > Advanced SEO tab
      3. Click + Add new Tag under the Meta Tags section
      4. Paste in the meta tag from the Commission Factory modal
      5. Click Apply
      6. Back in your Commission Factory dashboard select Verify

      Weebly

      1. In another tab, log on to your Weebly site’s dashboard
      2. While not in Code Editor mode, select Edit HTML/CSS
      3. From the Header Type directory, select header.html
      4. Inside the <head> tags you should see some existing <meta> tags
      5. Paste in the meta tag from the Commission Factory modal
      6. Click Save
      7. Back in your Commission Factory dashboard select Verify

      GoDaddy

      1. In another tab log in to your GoDaddy account
      2. In the Products list select Website Builder and on the site you’d like to add the tag click Manage
      3. Click Design Your Pages > Pages > Page Properties
      4. Select Heading Title and in the Meta Data tab paste in the meta tag from the Commission Factory modal.
      5. Click Apply then Ok
      6. Back in your Commission Factory dashboard select Verify
