What is a Professional Instagram Account?

To ensure content creators are getting the most out of your partnerships and performance on Commission Factory, it’s essential to have a professional Meta account linked to your affiliate profile.

Professional accounts on Instagram can either be set to Business or Creator. A creator account is best for public figures, content producers, artists and influencers, while a business account is best for businesses looking to reach customers. Please note, professional accounts can't be set to private, but they do enable added benefits and features.

When you set up a professional account on Instagram, you'll have access to these features powered by Meta:

  • Professional dashboard: Track your performance, access and discover professional tools, and explore educational information curated by Instagram.
  • Linked permissions: When you link an Instagram account to a Facebook Page, admins, editors and other Page roles will have equal permissions on the associated Instagram account.
  • Contact information: You can add a Contact button to your professional account, which will appear near the top of the profile. Your contact information is displayed, and you can edit this at any time. When you turn this feature on, your information can be seen by anyone who taps the Contact button.
  • Category label: Professional accounts will show a category directly below the profile image. This category is the same as the category of your linked Facebook Page. You can choose to display or hide your category label on your public profile after setup.
  • Insights: Instagram Insights provide information on who your followers are, when they're online and more. You can also view insights for specific posts that you've created to see how each performed and how people are engaging with them. Learn more about Instagram Insights
  • Secondary inbox: You'll have access to an inbox with Primary, and Requests   folders. You can use this inbox to organise your messages and control your notifications.
  • Ranked requests: You'll be able to sort your requests by received date or by top accounts.

Additionally, when you connect your professional account to your Commission Factory account, you gain access to added benefits that include:

  • Ability to use Instagram as a verified and connected traffic source to earn commission
  • Inclusion in the Commission Factory Influencer Hub and greater exposure to brands
  • Increased brand partnership opportunities and maximised revenue earning
  • Enhanced affiliate profile showcasing your follower count and recent content

How to connect and reconnect Instagram

Log in to the Commission Factory interface. At the top of the page, a red warning will appear. Click on "Reconnect".

For customers connecting Instagram for the first time, the process remains the same. However, the red warning will not appear. Instead, you will need to navigate to the page through Settings > Traffic Sources.

Within the "Social Media Pages", click on the three dots next to Instagram and select "Reconnect".

If your Instagram account is a personal (consumer) account, Instagram will prompt you to change it to a professional account. This process takes only a minute or two and is completed directly via the login window.

Since 4 December, Instagram has restricted the use of personal (consumer) accounts for third-party integrations. Therefore, to promote using Instagram on the Commission Factory network, all customers must ensure their Instagram accounts are set up as professional (business or creator) accounts.

If you need any further assistance connecting your professional account, you can contact our publisher team via email - affiliates@commissionfactory.com.
