Commission Factory notifications: How they work and how to manage them
Stay informed and in control with smarter, real-time platform alerts Commission Factory has overhauled its notification system to help you stay on top of the updates that matter most. Whether you're an affiliate, advertiser or agency, the new experience puts critical alerts front and centre—and gives you the tools to customise what you see and where.
What's changed?
All users now benefit from a redesigned notification system that is:
-
Easier to see: A new in-platform notification sidebar replaces the old Message Centre.
-
More customisable: Turn optional notifications on or off in your User > Notification settings.
-
Better organised: Similar notifications are grouped to reduce clutter and improve visibility.
-
Multi-account ready: Notifications now include account names and logos to help multi-client users keep things clear.
-
Delivered where you work: Key alerts can also be sent to email and, coming soon, to Slack or Microsoft Teams.
Where to find your notifications
You can access the new notification sidebar from anywhere in the platform. Just look for the bell icon in the top navigation bar.
To manage your preferences:
-
Go to your profile menu (top right corner)
-
Select Notification settings
-
Use the toggles to enable or disable optional notifications
-
Choose your preferred delivery method: Email or In-platform (or both)
Legacy notifications delivered via the Message Centre have been retired.
Notification types
There are three main types of notifications:
1. System-generated (forced)
These are essential alerts that you can't disable. Examples include:
-
Password reset emails
-
Payment failed alerts
-
Tracking issues
2. Optional
You can turn these on or off per user. Examples include:
-
New affiliate application (advertisers)
-
Advertiser invitation (affiliates)
-
High transaction value alerts
-
Weekly performance reports

How do these changes impact existing customers who previously customised their old notifications?
If you've previously customised your notifications under our old system, here's how we've handled the transition:
-
The old system only supported email notifications.
-
You could configure notifications to go to any email address, regardless of whether it belonged to a valid Commission Factory user.
-
Notifications were managed per email address, not per user account.
To maintain compliance and ensure continuity, we’ve migrated your existing email notification preferences into the new system—but only for addresses tied to valid user accounts. This avoids sending new notifications to users who haven’t explicitly opted in, which could violate spam or data protection laws.
All new users will start with our new default notification setup and can update their preferences as needed from their Notification settings page.
Notifications in Slack and Microsoft Teams
We're piloting support for third-party delivery channels so that you can receive and act on key updates directly in your internal tools. This helps reduce email reliance and improves team responsiveness.
